Texas Health Southlake, which opened in 2004 as the city’s first hospital, completed its 5,300 square foot expansion in June that includes six observation beds, bringing the hospital’s total bed count to 23.

The new addition is connected to the hospital via the family waiting area, which was enlarged and updated with new furnishings, a flat screen television, concierge desk, display case, and a private consult room. A new ER nurse’s station is located next to the family waiting area. As part of the expansion, the hospital’s technology was upgraded to enhance patient care monitoring and an electronic tracking board in the family waiting area displays patient status.

Citing the need to meet demand for healthcare services from Southlake and surrounding communities, hospital President Traci Bernard says the expansion not only added much needed space, but creates better efficiencies and a high quality patient, physician and employee experience.

“This project was much needed due to the growing demand for the highest quality of healthcare in our community. Not only does it provide more space for our staff and patients, but it beautifully complements our existing facility. We are excited that our hospital is now able to provide more healthcare services,” stated Bernard.

Texas Health Southlake offers 17 specialties through its 300+ on-staff physicians ranging from neurosurgery and orthopedics to general surgery, ENT, podiatry and gynecology. As a surgical hospital, most procedures done are outpatient, but the hospital is also equipped with 23 inpatient/observation suites, along with six operating rooms, a pain management suite and an emergency room open 24/7. A physical therapy facility opened in March in Bedford. For more information, visit TexasHealthSouthlake.com.

The physicians on the medical staff of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of the hospital.
