Each year, SEA LIFE Grapevine selects a group of Young Environmentalists that share the aquarium’s passion for conservation, the environment and the creatures that call our oceans home. Made up of ten kids, ages 8 to 12, the group of Young Environmentalists get to participate in a number of fun activities and exclusive events both at the aquarium and around the area. Young Environmentalists are not only passionate about sea creatures, but believe they can make an impact on our environment right here in Dallas-Fort Worth.

To enter, kids must draw a picture or create a 30 to 60-second video that shows what they can do to protect the environment. Young Environmentalists will receive a free SEA LIFE annual pass, plus one for a family member. Entries must be submitted by August 5 via the SEA LIFE Grapevine Facebook page or by emailing sealifegrapevine@sealifeus.com.

Kids interact with blue tongue skink, Fink, at Rainforest Adventure.

Get ready for close encounters with caimans, piranha, snakes and more at the new Rainforest Adventure at SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium. The 3,500-square-foot interactive exhibit takes guests to the lush environments of the world’s rainforests. Get an up-close view of piranha as they swim overhead in the eight-foot long walk through tunnel, observe the intriguing lifestyle of the Burmese python through a domed pop-up window, and discover coldwater invertebrates in interactive touch tanks. Daily educational talks offer visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of exotic reptiles including the Argentine tegu, Australian blue-tongued skink, bearded dragon, and Madagascar tomato frog.

Dive into action with the Octonauts, the team of undersea adventure heroes from the hit animated TV show.  Young fans will embark on an exciting mission with special activities and fun-filled events, plus get the chance to meet Captain Barnacles and Peso.  The Octonauts adventure starts at SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium, Monday, May 18 - Sunday, May 31.

SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium is looking for 10 young ocean enthusiasts, ages 6 to 10, passionate about conservation and sea creatures to be apart of their Young Environmentalist group.  Those selected will participate in fun, exclusive events and activities at the aquarium, while learning about conservation, the ocean and its creatures.  From lake cleanups to World Ocean Day, the Young Environmentalists love the ocean and believe they can make a positive impact on our environment.

 

Young Environmentalists will receive a free SEA LIFE annual pass, plus one for a family member, and a special t-shirt to wear at activities.

 

To apply kids must draw a picture or create a 30-second video showing what they do around their home or neighborhood to help the environment.  Parents must fill out the application and submit the picture or video before 5 p.m. on Monday, February 9.  Email the application to amy.estrada@merlinentertainments.biz, hand-in or mail to SEA LIFE Grapevine, 3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway, Grapevine, Texas 76051.

 

Winners will be announced February 12. The first Young Environmentalist meeting is Tuesday, February 17 at SEA LIFE Grapevine.

He flies through the sky and goes down the chimney, but it’s not often that you see Santa underwater.  This holiday season Santa is spreading holiday cheer with the help of some scuba gear.  A jolly, red-suited diver, beard and all, along with his elf are taking the plunge in a magical dive show amongst the fish, sharks and sea turtles in SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium’s 160,000-gallon ocean tank.  Pose for pictures and find out whether Scuba Diving Santa thinks you’ve been naughty or nice.  Scheduled dives occur at 11:30 a.m. on December 13, 14, 20 and 21.

Plus, dive into the holidays with the Octonauts, the team of undersea adventure heroes from the hit animated TV show.  Young fans will embark on an exciting mission with special holiday activities and fun-filled events, plus get the chance to meet Captain Barnacles and Kwazii.

Octonauts Holiday Activities, November 29 - December 21:

  • Meet and Greet:  Captain Barnacles and Kwazii will be available for photo opportunities with guests in the Cinema. Plus, get an Octonauts sticker! (Weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Scavenger Hunt: take a special undersea mission with an Octonauts fact-finding trail, available at admissions. (Daily)
  • Story Time: listen to a festive tale as SEA LIFE team members read one of the Octonauts holiday-themed books. (Daily at 11 a.m.)
  • Videos: watch a special Octonauts holiday-themed episode in the Cinema. (Daily)
  • Octonauts-themed ornament coloring activity. (Daily)
  • The perfect present, take the fun home with Octonauts toys and DVDs, available for purchase in the gift shop.

You’re in for frightful fishy fun at SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine with several underwater Halloween happenings.  Enjoy a few tricks and a lot of fun treats that include scary fish facts, a pumpkin patch photo opportunity and underwater pumpkin carving.  Be sure to stop by on select Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout October to watch highly trained divers dressed in costume compete to see who can carve the best jack-o-lantern... UNDERWATER! 

Underwater pumpkin carvings take place October 18, 19, 22, 25, 26 and 29 (dives occur at 11 a.m. on scheduled days.)

A Black Tip Reef Shark at SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine

SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine will celebrate the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week from August 10-17, highlighting their expansive collection of 15 species of sharks.

SEA LIFE Aquarium visitors can enjoy a wide range of exciting, interactive family activities that raise awareness about shark conservation.

-       Take the shark scavenger hunt for a chance to win a SEA LIFE Annual Pass when you spot the correct species.

-       Touch real shark eggs and teeth in the interactive touch pool area and watch shark-themed videos in the cinema all week. 

-       Watch aquarists feed sharks in the ocean tank at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, Thursday, August 14 and Saturday, August 16.  See the shark feedings up close, along with two new baby epaulette sharks while you interact with aquarists with the purchase of a behind the scenes tour ticket. 

-       Annual Pass Holders are invited to take a FREE behind the scenes tour Tuesday, August 12, Thursday, August 14 and Saturday, August 16. (Space is limited to 12 guests per hour. Tours run every half hour.)

-       Get your camera ready for an opportunity to take photos with “Sharky”, the SEA LIFE mascot on Sunday, August 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, August 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

-       Shark-themed coloring activities.

Hope, a green sea turtle, at SEA LIFE Aquarium.

Experience Turtle Fest at SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine, Friday, May 23 through Friday, May 30 and learn about conservation through up close interactions with non-releasable endangered sea turtles.  From green sea turtles Hope and Boomer, a Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle Squirt, to Eddie a new green sea turtle arriving soon, you’ll be nose-to-nose with these amazing creatures throughout the aquarium.

SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine invites you to come out and watch Scuba Bunny hop to the bottom of the ocean tank to hide eggs for a SEA LIFE diver to find.  Kids are encouraged to help point the diver in the right direction!  Scheduled dives occur at 11 a.m. on April 12, 16 and 19.  Other Easter-themed activities include a special aquarium-wide scavenger hunt for eggs hidden in various tanks.  Annual pass holders are invited to bring a friend for FREE over Scuba Bunny dive dates.
