Officers (Left to right): Fabulous Fillies Officers are Junior Lieutenant Tristan Hicks, Senior Lieutenant Savannah Schweizer, Captain Madyson Bauer, Senior Lieutenant Grayson Hefner, and Junior Lieutenant Leah Lambert.

The Fabulous Fillies Dance Team Officers from Grapevine High School have been selected to perform in the 87th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade held in New York City on Thursday, November 28, at 9 a.m. EST. This is the 21st year that the officer line has participated in the parade.

The Fabulous Fillies officers will be dancing with the Spirit of America. The production number includes several hundred performers from all over the country and is a featured performance in Herald Square. The two and one half mile long parade is known for its giant, whimsical balloons, massive floats, celebrity entertainment and appearances, accomplished dance and cheer groups, celebrated marching bands and its annual grand finale, the arrival of Santa Claus.

“It is an honor and a Fabulous Fillies tradition for our officers to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day celebration,” KayLynn Renfro, the director of the Fabulous Fillies, said. “This is the 21st  year that our officers have dedicated their Thanksgiving break to participate in this iconic event.”

The Fillies officers received an invitation to participate in the parade after earning top honors at the Crowd Pleasers Officer Camp this past summer. All five of the officers will travel to New York City for five days of practice and sightseeing before the parade performance on Thursday. The Fillies are scheduled to see the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Times Square and 5th Avenue. They will also attend the Broadway musical "Newsies" and the Radio City Musical Hall “Christmas Spectacular” performance featuring the Rockettes.

“We are so excited to have the opportunity to travel to NYC to represent GHS and the Fillies. We grew up watching the Macy's parade on Thanksgiving morning," Madyson Bauer, Fillies Captain said. “We never thought we would one day have the privilege of being a part of this great Thanksgiving tradition.”
