Southlake Carroll Student named 2015 Lone Star Artist

Over 300 talented area high school students submitted artwork to the 2015 Art in the Square jury panel for consideration as a participant in the Student Art Venue.

The Grand Prize Winner of the Lone Star Award is  senior Serina Taluja from Carroll Senior High School. The winning piece is an oil painting titled Nanaji.

Serina’s painting is a tribute to her late great grandfather because even as he neared the end of his life he was always such a bright, optimistic, and inspiring person to her.

Serina and her family will travel to Austin for a two day stay courtesy Of Kid’s Matter International and receive a VIP tour of the Capitol courtesy of State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione. The winning art work will hang in the Capitol rotunda this summer.

Capriglione says "I am privileged to work with the Southlake Women's Club and Kid's Matters International on this project for the second year in a row. I look forward to a continued partnership that recognizes and honors young aspiring artists in my district."
