The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday tradition for a lot of families. Snuggling up on the couch and marveling over the creative and festive floats and balloons that crawl across the television screen is a favorite ritual for both kids and parents alike. It’s neat to watch celebrities, dancers, and marching bands from across the country perform, but what’s even more exciting is spotting a group from your home state or town on a national television network.
Grapevine residents will get that chance this Thanksgiving morning when officers from the Fabulous Fillies, the Grapevine High School’s dance team, perform during the 85th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Dance team officers will dance with the Spirit of America Dancers in a circus-themed performance and will don colorful harlequin costumes. About 650 performers from across the U.S. will dance in the number in Herald Square.
To catch the performance, watch the local NBC affiliate, Channel 5, around 9 a.m. Channel 5 is guaranteed to broadcast the group’s number.
The dance team officers received the invite to the parade after earning Grand Champion honors at the ShowMakers Dance Officer Camp over the summer.
Be sure to watch the Fabulous Fillies girls as they represent GHS and Grapevine in a nationally-televised performance.
