Grapevine High School Project Graduation to Host ‘Love in Colors’ Benefit Concert

The Grapevine High School Project Graduation 2013 committee will host a “Love In Colors” benefit concert on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Palace Theatre in Grapevine. All band members and the opening act are GCISD students.

The concert will open with an acoustic set by Dallas Schwab and follow with a performance by the band, Love In Colors. Love In Colors features three Grapevine High School band members; seniors Austin Post and Grant Thompson and sophomore Joe Dunn, and two Colleyville Heritage High School students; Matthew Guzman and James Davis.

“Love in Colors, whose music is featured on YouTube and iTunes, plays upbeat, indie rock that is suitable for all ages,” said Teri Workman, event chairman. “We’re hoping that students and families will come out to support these talented, hometown musicians and enjoy a fun concert in support of Project Graduation 2013.”

Tickets for students are $10 in advance, $15 for adults and at the door. GHS students can buy tickets on campus from band members, and Project Graduation volunteers will also sell tickets during select lunch periods in the weeks preceding the show.

Tickets can also be purchased from Robb Kelly at Grapevine Guitar Works, a local business and sponsor of the event. Grapevine Guitar Works will also hold a drawing at the concert for a free acoustic guitar. For more information, visit the Project Graduation Facebook page or contact Teri Workman at Teri@TeriWorkman.com.

“Project Graduation” was initiated by the Texas Department of Transportation to help keep high school seniors safe and off the roads on graduation night. Statistics show that graduation is the deadliest night in the life of a student.

GHS Project Graduation 2013 is hosting an alcohol-free, overnight lock-in event for seniors on the evening of Grapevine High School's graduation ~ June 6, 2013. This annual event is funded by donations from parents and members of the local community.

Historically, GHS has consistently ranked in the top 3 percent statewide with a participation rate of 84 percent for the past twenty years. The concert fundraiser will help reach the goal of raising $65,000 to cover the cost of the venue, transportation to and from GHS, food and beverage, door prizes, raffle items and hired entertainment.
