Hawks Halt Expansion of Medical City Las Colinas

Medical City Las Colinas is on baby watch as they have 3 Red-Tailed Hawk eggs in a tree outside their Labor and Delivery breakroom window. In fact, this family of hawks is delaying a $16 million expansion of their Emergency Room. Because these birds are federally protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, their nest must not be disturbed until they all leave the nest.  The tall bald-cypress tree that the hawks call home is right where the 7 new Emergency Room beds will be located.

It is estimated to take anywhere from 2 - 5 months before the eggs hatch and the baby birds grow enough to leave the nest, so until then, the staff at Medical City Las Colinas will continue to be on baby watch.
