Sundance Square Movie Night returns this summer featuring five movies each celebrating a special anniversary as well as a current release. Returning for the 11thyear, Sundance Square will kick off this series June 7thand will run through July 12thon Thursday evenings in the plaza.
All shows will begin approximately at 7:30 p.m. in the Sundance Square Plaza, in downtown Fort Worth, and are free to the public. Sundance Square’s new digital screen will provide dynamic sight and sound for the best outside movie experience.
The countdown of classic movies dates back to the 1960’s and leads up to a 2018 current release. The featured movies include:
June 7th - The Great Escape (55 years)
June 14 - American Graffiti (45 years)
June 21 - Who Framed Roger Rabbit (30 years)
June 28 - You’ve Got Mail (20 years)
July 5 - Bottle Shock (10 years)
July 12 - Peter Rabbit (current)
The Great Escapeis a 1963 American World War II epic film based on an escape by British Commonwealth prisoners of war from a German POW camp, starring Steve McQueen, James Garner, and Richard Attenborough. Released July 4, 1963.
American Graffiti is a 1973 American coming-of-age comedy film directed and co-written by George Lucas.On the last day of summer vacation in 1962, friends Curt (Richard Dreyfuss), Steve (Ronny Howard), Terry (Charles Martin Smith) and John (Paul Le Mat) cruise the streets of small-town California while a mysterious disc jockey (Wolfman Jack) spins classic rock & roll tunes. Released August 1, 1973.
Who Framed Roger Rabbitis a 1988 fantasy/crime film directed by Robert Zemeckis. Down-on-his-luck private eye Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins) gets hired by cartoon producer R.K. Maroon (Alan Tilvern) to investigate a scandal involving Jessica Rabbit (Kathleen Turner), the sultry wife of Maroon's biggest star, Roger Rabbit (Charles Fleischer). But when Marvin Acme (Stubby Kaye), Jessica's alleged paramour and the owner of Toontown, is found murdered, the villainous Judge Doom (Christopher Lloyd) vows to catch and destroy Roger. You’ve Got Mailis a 1998 drama/romance film. Struggling boutique bookseller Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) hates Joe Fox (Tom Hanks), the owner of a corporate Foxbooks chain store that just moved in across the street. When they meet online, however, they begin an intense and anonymous internet romance, oblivious of each other's true identity. Eventually Joe learns that the enchanting woman he's involved with is actually his business rival. He must now struggle to reconcile his real-life dislike for her with the cyber love he's come to feel. Released December 18, 1998.
Bottle Shockis a 2008 drama/comedy directed by Randall Miller, starring Alan Rickman, Chris Pine, and Bill Pullman. Paris-based wine expert Steven Spurrier heads to California in search of cheap wine that he can use for a blind taste test in the French capital. Stumbling upon Napa Valley, the stuck-up Englishman is shocked to discover a winery turning out top-notch chardonnay. Determined to make a name for himself, he sets about getting the wine back to Paris. Released August 8, 2008.
Peter Rabbitand his three sisters -- Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail -- enjoy spending their days in Mr. McGregor's vegetable garden. When one of McGregor's relatives suddenly moves in, he's less than thrilled to discover a family of rabbits in his new home. A battle of wills soon breaks out as the new owner hatches scheme after scheme to get rid of Peter -- a resourceful rabbit who proves to be a worthy and wily opponent. Moviegoers are invited to bring blankets or chairs for seating in the plaza. Beverages will be available for purchase in the plaza during the movies and restaurants will be open throughout the evening. By visiting Sundance Square establishments, these events will continue to be offered to guests for free. Coolers are not permitted and Sundance Square Plaza is smoke free.
Visitors are asked to leave all pets in the comfort and safety of their home due to the large crowds, heat, as well as abrupt and loud movie noises.
