Whether you're planning a birthday bash or a bachelorette party, escape rooms are all the rage. Tons of different shops have popped up throughout the DFW area, offering puzzles and riddles for people to solve as they attempt to escape before time runs out.

Because there are dozens of options, it can be difficult to narrow down the best escape room for your interests. That's why we've done some of the work for you. Here are a handful of different DFW escape rooms you can check out, each with different themes. 

Escape the Room - 11661 Preston Road #184, Dallas 

Dubbed the #1 escape game experience in DFW, this place offers a unique, immersive experience for you and a handful of friends. Choose from several different puzzle options, including "The Dig" in which you become excavators trapped down in the earth with only one way to escape and survive. You and nine friends can also opt for a "Western Bank Heist" and test your skills as a wanted criminal. Whatever theme you choose, Escape the Room is sure to provide an entertaining experience full of mystery and team bonding. 

Red Door Escape Room - 280 Commerce St. Suite 285, Southlake 

The game designers at this escape room strive to present authentic, creative forms of entertainment that you'll remember forever. Gather a group of friends and family, then choose which room you want to get locked inside. Will it be the "Once Upon a Time" room with a fairytale theme? Or maybe you'll go for the classic "Confinement" setup in which a shadowy presence awaits your arrival. Either way, you're sure to have a blast at this thrilling location. 

Dallas Panic Room - 2001 W. Irving Boulevard, Irving 

In the mood to get kidnapped by a sadistic doctor? Or would you rather be trapped in a cabin that's stuck in a dangerous blizzard? Dallas Panic Room can provide both and more. The rooms change every 10 to 12 months, which means you always have something new to try with your friends. Each escape room is crafted to provide you with excellent challenges and clues, and you'll be impressed no matter which theme you select.

Can You Rob the Bank? - 5706 E Mockingbird Lane, Dallas 

If you come to play at this escape room, you'll want to see your photo up on the Wanted Wall by the time the game ends. The only way to do that? Embrace your inner criminal and stage a successful bank robbery. The Wild West theme is fun, but the team-building activities and interactive challenges are even better. There's also a "Superhero Bank Escape" and a "Grey Gangster Bank Heist."

Xcape Adventures - 2414 East Highway 80 #100, Mesquite 

From "Dr. Gene Etics" to "Captain Skully," the themes at Xcape Adventures are real crowd pleasers. After seeing the high-quality rooms and joining in the brain-stimulating fun for a whole hour, you'll leave praising this place and craving more, just like everyone else. Even first-timers will immediately jump on the bandwagon and develop a love for escape rooms. 

Great Room Escape - 715 N Glenville Drive STE 440, Richardson

The clock is ticking and the pressure is rising, but can you and 11 of your friends make it out of the room in time? Great Room Escape will ensure that everyone enjoys the fully-interactive, immersive experience. Choose between "Trapped in a Room With a Zombie" or "Escape the 80s House Party," or wait until the missile-defense-themed "Countdown" room arrives soon.
