FIFTH RUBY SLIPPER SOIRÉE TO TAKE PLACE IN FEBRUARY, BENEFITING CASA OF TARRANT COUNTY
SOUTHLAKE, Texas – Kappa Alpha Theta’s Mid-Cities alumnae chapter will host its fifth Ruby Slipper Soiree on Thursday, February 1, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Marq in Southlake. All proceeds will benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Tarrant County.
At this year’s event, guests will enjoy an array of hearty appetizers prepared by award-winning chef, Charles Youts, and The Classic at Roanoke and dessert from Nothing Bundt Cakes Southlake. A shoe and accessory fashion show will follow, featuring designs from returning style partners Brighton, Elaine Turner, Kendra Scott and Premier Designs, modeled by Texas Christian University (TCU) Kappa Alpha Theta members.
Elaine Turner, Kendra Scott and Premier Designs will sell pieces from their collections at the event and donate 20 percent of all earnings to CASA.
Throughout the evening, guests will have an opportunity to win raffle prizes and sample either “Candy Cane,” a proprietary vodka and rum cocktail infused with white chocolate, cream and fresh peppermint or “Latte Love,” a cocktail with cream and espresso liqueur from Candy’s Signature Cocktails. A specialty cocktail, a “Sparkling Ruby Slipper,” and red and white wines will be served. For a $25 donation, participants can also take part in the returning “Spirit and Sparkle Pull.” Participants will receive one bottle of Candy’s Signature Spirits or wine, along with a select piece of Kendra Scott or Premier Design jewelry.
Attendees wearing red shoes (ruby slippers) receive one free raffle ticket. Additional tickets can be purchased at the event. Raffle prizes include gifts from style partners Elaine Turner and Kendra Scott. In addition, presenting sponsor Cosmetic & Family Dentistry of North Texas has assembled a special gift basket.
A brief program will feature Colleyville resident Elizabeth Mattson, who will discuss her experiences as a CASA advocate working directly with foster children in Tarrant County and the benefits advocates can offer these children.
“With our last Ruby Slipper Soirée, we more than doubled our donation to CASA thanks to our fantastic style partners, generous sponsors and amazing guests,” said Emily Klaus, Ruby Sipper Soiree event co-chair. “This year we hope to match or even exceed our nearly $23,000 in revenue for such a great, local cause.”
“The Ruby Slipper Soirée is an incredibly fun way to raise awareness and funds for CASA,” said Natalie Stalmach, development director for CASA of Tarrant County. “We train ordinary people like you and me to be volunteer advocates who stand up on behalf of abused and neglected children in our community and help them find safe and permanent homes. It is our wish that all children could one day happily say that ‘There’s No Place Like Home.’” The Ruby Slipper Soiree event theme was created to support this CASA goal.

About CASA
CASA of Tarrant County is an organization dedicated to helping abused and neglected children by training volunteers to make recommendations to family court judges for safe, permanent homes where children can thrive. Last year in Tarrant County alone, CASA served more than 800 children. Currently, 250 local children are still on a waiting list for an appointed advocate. Tarrant County has the second highest number of confirmed cases of child abuse and/or neglect in Texas.
