The First Methodist Church in Grapevine invites everyone in the city and surrounding areas to an Easter Picnic and Ice Cream Social on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the playground and lawns of the church, located at 422 Church St.

The event will host great activities for kids, followed by a picnic lunch and homemade ice cream contest. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy any part or all of the day's activities. There is no cost and no need to RSV. Attendees just need to show up for all the fun. Here's the schedule:

  • 10 a.m. - Gather to play on the playground
  • 10:30 a.m. - Children's Activities
Three egg hunts for toddler/two's, three/four year olds, Kindergarten-Second Graders
    Scavenger Hunt for Third-Fifth Graders
  • 11:30 a.m. - Picnic
Bring your own picnic lunch and a blanket to spread out on. Children's Ministry will provide tea, lemonade and water.
  • 12 p.m. - Homemade Ice Cream Contest
Make your best ice cream recipe and bring it to share! The winner will be chosen by popular choice and donations will be given to Hugworks. Small cups, spoons and napkins will be provided for the tasting. All you need to bring is your ice cream. Freezer space will be available for those who wish to bring their ice cream early during the children's activities. Attendees need to be set up and ready to serve at 12 p.m.

The church is excited to welcome Hugworks, who will be providing music. The mission of Hugworks is to provide healing experiences for the special needs of children of all ages through performing arts and media. To learn more about Hugworks, visit their website at www.hugworks.org.
