Medical City Alliance Designated a Primary Stroke Center

Medical City Alliance, a Level III Trauma Center, has received certification as a Primary Stroke Center (PSC) from The Joint Commission, reflecting a higher level of competence for the treatment of serious stroke events.

“Lifesaving stroke care requires expert providers, resources and processes, coupled with the ability to act quickly to effectively treat patients suffering from a stroke,” Medical City Alliance CEO Glenn Wallace says. “As a Level III Trauma Center, those components of care are in place and this designation further demonstrates our commitment to high-quality stroke care for our patients and their loved ones.”

According to the CDC, more than 795,000 people in the U.S. have a stroke each year. It is the leading cause of disability, making access to lifesaving stroke care a vital community service.

Offered in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, the prestigious Primary Stroke Center (PSC) Certification means Medical City Alliance has made exceptional efforts to achieve the best outcomes. It’s a signal to the local community that the quality of care provided meets the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients.

Joint Commission-certified PSCs and organizations seeking initial certification are required to adopt a set of standardized performance measures. Organizations collect monthly data for each measure in the set. The data is then submitted quarterly to The Joint Commission.
