No Full Weekend, Full Highway Closures on DFW Connector Project During Labor Day Weekend

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, there will be no full weekend, full highway closures starting on Friday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. until Monday, Sept. 3 at 6 a.m. on the DFW Connector project.  NorthGate Constructors, the contractor for the project, will work through Friday night and early Saturday.

NorthGate was tentatively scheduled to complete demolition of the old Northwest Highway/Gateway Drive bridge during the Labor Day weekend.  Instead, crews were able to finish the demolition the weekend of Aug. 24, allowing for no full weekend, full highway closures during the majority of the holiday weekend.

Crews will continue to work through Friday, Aug. 31, with various lane closures expected that night.  The project will resume operations Tuesday morning.

The $1.02 billion DFW Connector project is currently one year ahead of schedule, with a completion date of mid-summer 2013.  The project is being built under a comprehensive development agreement (CDA) between the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and NorthGate Constructors.
