Grab your family and journey back in time this weekend, without taking a step out of Grapevine.

For the sixth year in a row, the Church at the Cross is hosting "Journey to Bethlehem," a unique outdoor presentation of the Christmas story. This 45-minute tour includes a menagerie of animals like camels, donkeys, and sheep and 145 costumed performers. From Roman soldiers on horseback to the bustling Bethlehem marketplace, this family-friendly attraction delights all ages. The tour is full of surprises, and ends at the manger, just after the birth of baby Jesus.

"Journey to Bethlehem" Director Ginny Willey said the event has become a Christmas tradition for many families in the area.

"Santa Claus is great, but we tell the story of what Christmas is really about. We love it, it's such a fun way for everyone to start the holiday season."

Along with the live nativity scene, there will also be music, entertainment and games while you wait for the tour to begin. "Journey to Bethlehem" is a free event, and runs Thursday night through Monday, December 5th from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Be sure to dress warmly and be prepared to walk about a quarter mile outdoors.

Church at the Cross is located at 3000 William D. Tate Avenue in Grapevine.
