The Texas Ballet Theater is celebrating it's 52nd season and the 10th anniversary season of its artistic director, Ben Stevenson by announcing the upcoming 2012-2013 season.

The ballet company, which serves both Dallas and Fort Worth, will open the season friday, Oct. 19 at Bass Performance Hall with "Peer Gynt." Stevenson choreographed the ballet, which is an adaptation of a Norwegian fairy tale. The ballet runs from Oct. 19 to 21 (four performances) in Fort Worth before coming to the Music Hall at Fair Park for an additional four performances from Oct. 26 to 28.

Next, Texas Ballet Theater will present a completely revamped production of the seasonal favorite, "The Nutcracker," at the Winspear Opera House form Nov. 23 to Dec. 2 (eight performances) and at the Bass Performance Hall Dec. 7 to 23 (16 performances). Last year, Texas Ballet Theater’s "The Nutcracker" sold out multiple performances in both cities, so audiences are encouraged to subscribe and buy tickets early. Only subscribers receive a 20 percent discount on "The Nutcracker" tickets and can purchase before the general public.

Texas Ballet Theater will also present "The Nutty Nutcracker," the hilarious spoof of the original production, at Bass Performance Hall for one night only on Dec. 21st at 7 p.m.
