From Cheerios to cheese sticks and cupcakes to Cokes, it can be hard to decipher which foods are healthiest for your child. And with obesity and diabetes rates climbing, parents could sometimes use a little help figuring out how to strike a balance between healthy and not-so-healthy treats.

Karen Malouf, a clinical dietitian at Children's Medical Center, will speak about what parents can do to make sure that their kids get proper nutrition necessary to fuel their brains and bodies at a special lecture at Timberline Elementary School in Grapevine on Wednesday, January 25th. She'll also discuss how to decrease your child's chance of illnesses such as diabetes and obesity.

The meeting, which starts at 7:00 p.m., is the first in a series of Children's Medical Center health topics. Timberline Elementary School is located at 3220 Timberline in Grapevine.
