Head Over to Southlake for 'Art in the Square' This Weekend

Art in the Square will be held this weekend, April 27-29, 2012.  Proceeds from this annual, outdoor juried art and family fun festival provide funding for deserving Northeast Tarrant County charities that serve women, children and families.

2012 Art in the Square is a three day event that includes:

  • Over 140 professional artists, new artists along with returning favorites
  • A juried youth art exhibit-winning entry from Congressman Marchant’s District will be entered in the Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Contest.
  • Headline Performer Main Stage Saturday night:  Award-Winning Country Star Chris Cagle
  • Le Bistro with international cuisine
  • King and Queen Pub tent
  • Children’s Activities to include Kid’s Korner, sponsored by Cook Children’s and The Zone sponsored by Children’s Medical Center

 

 Location:  Southlake Town Square, 1256 Main Street, Southlake, TX 76092

Hours: April 27-Friday: 4 pm to 10:30 pm

            April 28-Saturday 10am to 10:30 pm

            April 29-Sunday:  11am to 6 pm

 

Admission:  Free

A change this year requires tickets for all food, drinks and activities.

Featured Artist for the event:  Stephen Sebastian, a recognized painter and printmaker.  His art, prints and posters have received more than 200 national and regional awards.

2012 T-Shirt artist is Julia Gilmore; t-shirts will be available for purchase.

Entertainment:  Chris Cagle will be on the Main Stage, 8:30-10:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28.  He has two gold albums and two No. 1 albums he is known for his “redneck rock ‘n roll”.  Dallas-based TOP, musicians who perform different styles from jazz, disco, and Motown to today’s hits will be featured on stage on Friday 8:30-10:30.  Other performers include Zac King Band on Saturday 5:30-7:30 and Casey Weston, Sunday 3:30-5:30.  Other performers include Eddie Coker, Radio Kaos Rob Gotcher, Event Horizon and Texas Surfers.  The Gazebo Stage will feature story time on Saturday, “Peter and the Wolf” performed by SMU students.  Mr. Allison and his animals from Dawson Middle School will perform Sunday at 12:30.
