Vitruvian Salsa Festival Celebrates Latin Music and Culture Throughout the Summer Months

With its roots planted in Cuba and Puerto Rico, salsa dancing is the very epitome of the verve and joy of Latin American culture. Now, its styles have morphed to include the Cali style from Colombia, Bachata-influenced moves from the Dominican Republic and much more. In its 11th year, the Vitruvian Salsa Festival celebrates both culture and community with monthly dance parties designed to get everyone from beginners to seasoned pros on the dance floor.

Performances will be held on the second Saturday in June, July, August and September. Bring your dancing shoes to Vitruvian Park’s amphitheater and enjoy a different live band each month. The festival runs from 6 to 10 p.m. each week with professional salsa lessons from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and Latin DJ Ruben Reyes spinning tracks. Food trucks and family activities surround the amphitheater for each performance.

This year’s featured bands include DFW-based favorites Havana NRG (June 14), the highly versatile Latin Swing (July 12), Caribbean-inspired Zone D’Mambo (Aug. 9) and Houston-based Yamilka G y su Orquesta (Sept. 13).
