Grapevine Faith Varsity Soccer: 4-Peat State Championship

Grapevine Faith Christian School Varsity Soccer celebrated an unprecedented fourth consecutive state soccer championship at a pep rally held this week. Mayor Tate was in attendance to congratulate the team and assist with the presentation of the championship banner.

In addition to the state title, ten players were honored at the All State Team level and 14 received All District accolades. "We had several goals going into this season. One, of course, was to win another championship. A secondary goal was to compete in a public school, 5A tournament," said Coach Matt McKinney. "As champions of the Winter Blast Tournament, we beat some of the top 5A teams in the state. Not only was this a great reward for the hard work and dedication of the team, but also demonstrated that we could be competitive on the 5A level."

With five titles in the soccer program's short seven year existence, the expectations are high. Coach McKinney and assistant Coaches Andrews and Pipes are grooming JV and Junior High players with these expectations in mind. In the meantime, the student body is enjoying the spirit of 4-Peat Pride on both campuses of Grapevine Faith.
