“Calligraphy is one of the oldest and most beautiful arts of humankind. An exemplar is a presentation of an alphabet. The uncial alphabet is from medieval Europe and is used in the famous Book of Kells.
Of late, I’m just as interested in the negative space between letters as in the letters themselves. This painting is part of a series using different alphabets and the shapes of spaces in-between. Surprisingly, each piece has a unique flavor.”
