For the last 25 years, The British Emporium has been the premier resource in North Texas for British groceries, gifts, teapots, and pop-culture items. The store will celebrate their silver anniversary on  Saturday, February 24 at the historic Palace Theatre in downtown Grapevine.

The celebration begins with the showing of the classic British comedy “A Fish Called Wanda,” the 1988 movie written by and starring John Cleese along with Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, and Michael Palin. The movie was directed by Charles Crichton, which was his final film to direct. General admission tickets for the movie are $6. The movie starts at 1 p.m.

The Palace Theatre is a vintage theatre reminiscent of those found throughout the United Kingdom. To enhance the nostalgic feeling of this setting, the concession stand will feature some of those hard to find favourite British treats, chocolates, biscuits, candy and more. These treats can always be found at The British Emporium so it’s only right that they also be on sale at the theatre that day.

The staff at The British Emporium have been actively involved in the local community during the store’s 25 years of business, through events, fundraising, and participation in local organizations.  They truly believe they are here to support Grapevine since its residents and visitors have contributed to the store’s success over the years. With this philosophy, they plan to donate proceeds from these events to GRACE, a Grapevine-based nonprofit relief agency that provides food, clothing, financial assistance, and other vital necessities to those in need in the local community.

Tickets can be purchased at www.palace-theatre.com. Service fees may apply.
