Holy Vessels: A Focus on Mental Health

Each of us is created to be a precious vessel of God's love. Sometimes, we experience hurt or circumstances that bring a sense of brokenness into our lives. One of the goals at First Methodist Church in Grapevine is to help individuals and families to find wholeness in the midst of this brokenness.

Starting on November 8, we will have a series of sermons and opportunities to allow us to focus on the church's response to mental health. Each week, we will provide resources and opportunities for you to address mental health needs within yourself or your family. Whether you have experienced brokenness from depression, addiction, grief, or other circumstances, we hope you will join with us in beginning a journey toward healing and wholeness. In addition to Sunday morning worship at 8:30, 9, 9:45 and 11 AM, you are invited to join in the following special opportunities:

November 8 - Hope and Healing with Dr. LaGrange

Psychologist Dr. Matthew LaGrange will lead a seminar and question and answer session on Sunday, November 8, at 9:45 AM and again at 12 noon, both in the Family Life Center. Dr. LaGrange will share a view for how the church can meet the challenge of caring for and walking with those in need and answer your questions. Childcare is provided and a snack lunch will be provided at the noon session.

November 15 - Medicine and Mental Health with Dr. Drake

Physician Dr. William Drake will lead a seminar and question and answer session about the medical aspects of mental health on Sunday, November 15, at 9:45 AM and 12 noon, both in the Family Life Center. Dr. Drake will share medical information about depression, its symptoms and some of the more unexpected ways it might show up. Childcare is provided and a snack lunch provided at the noon session.

November 22 - Service of Healing & Wholeness

We will hold a Service of Healing & Wholeness on Sunday, November 22, at 6 PM in Founders Chapel. Our focus is on mental health, God's response to us, and the church's response to help and bring wholeness. Whatever your need for wholeness - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or relational - you are invited to come and let God begin a good work in you.

December 2 - "Anxiety and Depression in Children and Teens"

On Wednesday, December 2, we will offer our next parenting seminar, "Anxiety and Depression in Children and Teens," with Dr. Michelle Bengston at 6:15 PM in Room 2001. Childcare is provided.
